MANDATE OF THE OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR MAGISTRATES COURT

The Office of Registrar Magistrates Court is established under Article 161(3) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and Section 10(2) of the Judicial Service Act, No. 1 of 2011. Its core mandate is to coordinate support services in all the Magistrates’ Kadhis’, and Small Claims Courts. It is the interface between the judicial and the administrative functions of the Judiciary whose key focus is to strengthen the existing governance structures and recommend good practices that facilitate access to and expeditious delivery of justice to all in accordance with the Constitution, laws, relevant policies and guidelines.

The office serves as the link between the Judiciary management and the Magistrates’ Kadhis and Small Claims Courts, by ensuring the seamless transmission and enforcement of Judiciary policies, circulars, and administrative directives.

The Office, being the interface between the judicial and administrative functions of Magistrates’ Kadhis and Small Claims Courts and the Judiciary, it provides strategic leadership and coordination for the effective administration of the said Courts. It ensures that judicial services are delivered efficiently, transparently, and in accordance with the Constitution and the policies of the Judiciary.
